SimplyBank closes out 2022 calendar year with $27,000 in new community donations

Rhea County-based bank issues 15 financial gifts in December to organizations supporting local needs

DAYTON, Tenn. -- Nearly $30,000 in donations are being distributed to 15 key non-profit partner organizations across East Tennessee this month as locally-owned SimplyBank closes out 2022 by giving back.

The giving comes on the heels of nearly $11,000 in donations made to communities in North Georgia, where SimplyBank operates offices in Flintstone, Ringgold and Rossville, as well as the October announcement of a $35,000 matching gift to Rhea County Community Center [RC3] for the purchase and installation of HVAC at the center’s public gym.

For leaders at the independent, Rhea County-based community bank, giving campaigns underline what it means to be a good neighborhood partner.

“Doing good and supporting those who have supported us for more than 130 years is central to our identity and philosophy not just as a community bank, but as a local business operated by local people,” Cara Roberson, president at SimplyBank, said. “These communities aren’t just lines on a map to us. These are the cities and neighborhoods where we live, go to church, raise our families and intend to serve for many years to come.”

While SimplyBank supports goodwill and non-profit organizations throughout the year, this end-of-year push is especially crucial as many families grapple with the high costs of energy, fuel, groceries and the holidays, said Angela Patterson, Community Reinvestment Act and compliance officer at SimplyBank.

“Big picture economic factors are squeezing many folks’ budgets tighter than ever this year,” Patterson said. “We know the winter holiday season can introduce additional financial stress, so our hope is by helping the helpers, there is simply more to go around as we close out 2022.”

Donations are being distributed to the following community partner organizations:

  • Helping Hands Community Food Pantry - Spring City, Tenn.
  • United Way of Rhea County - Dayton/Spring City/Graysville,Tenn.
  • WeCare - Dayton/Spring City/Graysville, Tenn.
  • Rhea of Hope Mobile Food Pantry - Dayton, Tenn.
